Wisconsin Softball Coaches
Over the past three weeks 186 softball programs responded to a survey that was conducted by the coaches association. The survey asked coaches to respond to when they would like the 43-foot pitching distances implemented for Wisconsin softball games.
Option 1) I support adopting the 43-foot pitching distance in 2010.
Option 2) I support adopting the 43-foot pitching distance in 2011.
Option 3) At this time either date is fine with me.
The table below shows the results of the survey.

On September 16th the Softball Coaches Advisory Committee will be meeting with Marcy Thurwachter of the WIAA to begin the process of making a final decision on this rule change. At this time the vote from the Coaches Advisory Committee stands in favor of adopting the 43-foot pitching distance in 2010. With this vote along with the results of the association’s survey it looks very likely that the 43-foot pitching distance will be adopted for the 2010 season.
After the Softball Coaches Advisory Committee meeting, the groups below will meet to discuss and vote on this issue. Unfortunately we will not be able to have a final decision until October 17th. At this time it is safe to say the 43-foot pitching distance is a very good possibility for the 2010 season.
Sports Advisory Meeting: Monday, October 5, 2009
Advisory Council Meeting: Thursday, October 16 and Friday, October 17, 2009
Board of Control Meeting: Friday, October 17, 2009
Finally, the executive board of the WFSCA and the WIAA would like everyone to be aware that both organizations did not support the decision to move to 43 feet. This was a decision that was made by the National Federation. We were simply given the option of changing to 43 feet in 2010 or 2011. We appreciate all of the emails and discussions that have taken place over the past month and understand the frustration that many of you are feeling at this time. Continue to communicate your concerns with us over the coming weeks but most of all thank you for all that you do to help the game of softball in Wisconsin.
Sincerely,
Richard Frost
WFSCA President
